ANÁLISE DE CARACTERÍSTICAS GEOMÉTRICAS DE TRECHO DA BR-060 E SUA RELAÇÃO COM ACIDENTES DE TRÂNSITO

Abstract

Traffic accidents on highways generate global concerns due to both economic and social consequences. Traffic in Brazil is the fourth most violent on the American continent, and its causes are human, vehicular, institutional/social, socioeconomic, environmental and road failures. However, among the cited causes, the failures in the roads are of great prominence, since it is verified by several studies the influence of the geometric characteristics in the quality and road safety, being then a problem that can be avoided. In this way, the research aims to analyze the geometric characteristics of five critical segments of a stretch of the BR-060 highway, between the cities of Rio Verde-GO and Jataí-GO, seeking to verify the existence of a relationship between geometric nonconformities in the road and the accidents that occurred. Initially, a literature review was carried out in order to discuss the geometric elements of the highways to be addressed in the work and that are related to road safety. Then, data collection was carried out, where through the calculation of the standard unit of severity (UPS) the most critical segments of the road section were defined and then, the analysis of these sections within the parameters of the horizontal alignment, vertical and cross section. Finally, it was verified if there is a relationship between the segments with the highest UPS and nonconformities verified. In view of the results presented, it was noted that the segments with the highest incidence of traffic accidents are also those with the highest number of geometric parameters with non-compliance with the Brazilian standards of geometric design of highways.
