A RELAÇÃO ENTRE AS TECNOLOGIAS DE INFORMAÇÃO E COMUNICAÇÃO NO DESEMPENHO DE ESTUDANTES BRASILEIROS NO PISA 2018

Abstract

Several studies look for identify factors linked to academic performance and educational effectiveness, as it is a current and constantly evolving field of research, proving to be fundamental due to changes in social, economic and technological that directly impact the educational context. One of these matters is the popularization of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), which brought significant changes to education, requiring the investigation and study of these influences. In this study, an investigation was carried out about the relationship between the use of ICTs in the performance of Brazilian students in the International Student Assessment Program (PISA). The sample used includes 10,961 young Brazilian fifteen-year-olds, referring to PISA 2018. The results found indicate that in the national context, the use of ICTs inside and outside the school has no significant linear relationship with the general academic performance, however, the interest in ICTs stated by students is attached to better performance in mathematics, reading and science. The results are innovative because they were described considering specifically the national context and later subdivided in each of the Brazilian regions.
