INFLUÊNCIA DA IDADE E DO INTERVALO ENTRE AS COLETAS DE SÊMEN NA TAXA DE APROVAÇÃO DE EJACULADOS DE REPRODUTORES DUROC

Abstract

Management at AI Centers must be well planned to make the best use of breeding stock. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of age at the first collection, average interval between collections and time in production of the animal on the approval rate of ejaculates. Were used data from 5,002 ejaculates from 115 boars. Regarding age at first collection, the animals were classified as Early (157–240 days) and Young (241–334 days). presenting ejaculate approval rates of 75.9% and 75.3%, respectively, without significant difference (p> 0.05). The intervals between collections were distributed in Short (4.2-5.2 days), Medium (5.3–6.1 days) and Long (6.2–8.3 days), Short intervals between collections provided a pass rate of 15.5% (p <0.05) and 48.9% (p <0.05) higher compared to medium and long treatments, respectively. Boars with a period of service of less than 365 days have been classified as Less Longevos and longer than 365 days in Longevos, Longevos animals presented 14.8% (p <0.05) approval percentage higher than Less Longevos animals. It was concluded that the ejaculate approval rate was not influenced by the age of the boars in the first collection and that average intervals between collections of 4.2 and 5.2 days provide a better use of the ejaculates.
