MONUMENTO AO DESENVOLVIMENTO ECONÔMICO-CULTURAL: ANÁLISE DOS AGENTES DO AGRONEGÓCIO EM RIO VERDE-GO

Abstract

The Monument to Agribusiness was erected in homage to the economic and cultural development of Rio Verde, representing the entire process of construction of large-scale agriculture in the municipality that went through three phases: Modernization of Agriculture, Industrialization of Agriculture and Agribusiness. The meaning of the use of the representation of the monument is given in the importance which works the collective imagination of the people, inciting a feeling of belonging and affirming the cult of Agribusiness said as responsible for the development of the city. The Pumpkin, which refers to the city nickname “Rio Verde das Abóboras”, the macaw, rhea, toucan and waterfalls representing natural elements of the Cerrado and the natural and tourist beauties of the city, are represented in the Monument. The University of Rio Verde college representing education in the municipality, the ox cart is a symbol of culture, the soybean, corn and sorghum plantations to serve the poultry-grain complex, machinery and equipment and the milk production chain. Agribusiness represented as an “economic miracle” also causes significant socioenvironmental impacts that lead to questioning the Monument in which Agribusiness propagates as a synonym for Development.
