HISTÓRIA E MEMÓRIAS DOS PIONEIROS DA EDUCAÇÃO PROFISSIONAL EM GOIÁS: NARRATIVAS DA CONSTITUIÇÃO DO INSTITUTO FEDERAL GOIANO

Abstract

Professional Education, in more than a century of existence, has been at the service of reproducing structural dualities in Brazilian education and society. In order to break these dualities, Brazilian progressive educators began the debates on Vocational and Technological Education (VTE) in the 1980s, and after intense political dispute, this pedagogical model is institutionalized by Law No. 11,741 / 2008. With the establishment of the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education by Law No. 11.892 / 2008, the Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology were created, specializing in the provision of Vocational and Technological Education in different teaching modalities, based on polytechnics, in “work as an educational principle” and in the “unitary school”. The creation and expansion of the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education meant a transformation in public educational policies, promoting a comprehensive, inclusive and emancipatory Professional Education. Given this context, this research aims to analyze the history of VTE in IF Goiano, along its constitutive trajectory, in order to contribute to the apprehension of the relationship between professional education and the labor world, in an institution whose origin is marked by the offer of professional education, exclusively agricultural. Among the observed relationships that have changed are the perspective of integral human formation, the expansion of vacancies in various areas of knowledge, the verticalization and flexibility of education and also improvements in accessibility and social inclusion. Among the relationships that remained constant, we highlight the free teaching, the provision of food and the boarding school regime. It was decided to carry out this historical rescue, through the memories and narratives of VTE pioneers, having as its research locus, the Instituto Federal Goiano. This research was conducted through interviews with pioneer servers of the Ceres, Rio Verde, Morrinhos and Urutaí campuses, based on a questionnaire with open questions covering the period from Agricultural School to Federal Institutes. The reflections were provided in official documents and studies by researchers, especially from the VTE. Together with this research, a digital PDF book was developed as an educational product to disseminate the pioneers' narratives, which could be useful for understanding VTE from the point of view of those who helped build the history of the IF Goiano.
