RELAÇÕES ÉTNICO-RACIAIS NOS INSTITUTOS FEDERAIS: UMA ANÁLISE DO ESTADO DA ARTE NO PERÍODO DE 2008 A 2024

Abstract

This research analyzed academic productions on ethnic-racial relations in Federal Institutes (IFs) between 2008 and 2024, aiming to map advances and propose pedagogical practices for Professional and Technological Education (EPT). Starting from the intersection between Law 10.639/2003 (teaching of Afro-Brazilian culture) and the creation of IFs (Law 11.892/2008), the study sought to understand how these institutions have worked on racial issues, especially with the increase in black students after the Quota Law (12.711/2012). Using the state-of-the- art methodology, dissertations and theses were reviewed on platforms such as Google Scholar and the Capes Digital Library. The analysis identified advances in academic production, but also significant gaps in the articulation between racial relations and EPT. The main recommendations include: continuing teacher training, production of anti-racist materials, and strengthening of affirmative actions. The results indicate that, although there has been progress, there is still a gap between the theory proposed by the legislation and the educational practice in the IFs. Therefore, it is necessary to implement effective institutional policies that guarantee not only access, but also the retention and success of black students. The research provides support for the construction of a truly inclusive and anti-racist professional education.
