DESEMPENHO AGRONÔMICO DE SORGO GRANÍFERO EM RIO VERDE - GO

Abstract

Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor [L.] Moench) belongs to the grass family, is a monocotyledonous herbaceous plant and its reproduction occurs in a mixed way. Sorghum breeding programs seek greater productivity, precocity and better crop health and with the aim of launching a new hybrid, this work compared the agronomic performance of two grain sorghum hybrids, one commercial and one pre-commercial. The two hybrids used were the super early precommercial LongPing® sorghum, which was compared with Pionner® 50A60 with the same treatments for both. The experiment was carried out in the municipality of Rio Verde on the São Tomaz Jatoba farm and the analyzed variables were definition of stand at 45DAP, number and percentage of plants in the reproductive stage, grain productivity and growth analysis, verifying total height, height of the vegetative part and size of the reproductive part (panicle). The results found showed equality in almost all the variables analyzed, with only the number of plants in the reproductive stage being different, a variable that highlighted the pre-commercial hybrid of Long Ping® in relation to the hybrid Pionner®. With this, we can observe that both hybrids have good agronomic performance in the southwest region of Goiás and with the Long Ping hybrid starting the reproductive phase before the Pionner hybrid, thus showing to be earlier than the Pionner hybrid.
