ARMAZENAGEM DE MILHO NO BRASIL: CENÁRIO ATUAL, PERSPECTIVAS FUTURAS E POTENCIAL USO DO SILO-BOLSA

Abstract

The scenario of record corn harvests has become increasingly frequent in Brazil, as a result, structural problems gain more and more prominence. One of the bottlenecks of country in this scenario, is the grain storage, which suffers from structural and space, and has been leading producers to seek alternatives to the high costs of current storage. The waste of tons of this poorly stored grain, monthly, is huge and causes a lot of damage to producers. The pressure in the system storage is already very high during the marketing of the soybean crop, and with the international competition for the Brazilian grain, soy storage is postponed, and when the corn harvest begins, it is common that the storage units still are full. In this scenario, as a good alternative to traditional structures employed on the farms for storage, the use of bag silos has been highlighted, as it allows storage on the rural property, which reduces considerably the cost of freight, allows a longer storage without that it is necessary to pay monthly fees or maintenance of fixed silos and has a low implementation cost compared to building a unit storekeeper on the property. It is noteworthy that the grains must be stored already dry and also free of impurities, to avoid loss of quality during the period of storage. However, when following the technical recommendations, the silo-bag is a good alternative for storage on rural properties.
