Abstract
Solar energy is a renewable energy source that has been growing more and more, through its capture by photovoltaic plates, the most used being the silicon-based plate, which is one of the most abundant elements on Earth and has low toxicity. New forms of production are being explored, such as the use of organic photovoltaic cells or organic photovoltaic (OPV), belonging to the third generation of solar cell technology. The production process of these cells has low energy demand, less carbon emission, its shape is malleable, in addition to the possibility of transparency. It is proposed to study solar energy plates based on OPV cells, by surveying data with companies that already implement this technology, and Solar Energy software (PVSYST and SETFOS), and thus comparing with the results of the existing Silicon plates in the market, using as parameters: application, efficiency, sustainability and cost. Through the PVSYST software, the result was reached that Silicon boards have up to 1.5x efficiency compared to a studied OPV board, therefore, 1.5x more area than OPV to reach the same result, and 20% higher investment than OPV under current conditions. Through the SETFOS software, it is possible to further study the functioning of the OPV plate, its layers and its behavior, and for the polymer used (PC71BM), through an optimization generated by the software itself, a change in thickness of the film, would make the efficiency increase by almost 1.5x, reaching Silicon tradables.
