dc.description.abstractThe cultivation of pepper is of great importance in Brazil, both for its profitability characteristics, as well as its social importance for the employment of high number of manpower. The initial establishment of a crop depends essentially on the physiological potential of the seeds used for sowing. The objective of this study was to evaluate the physiological quality of Capsicum baccatum pepper seeds of varieties and strains. The treatments with a completely randomized design consisted of seeds of two varieties of TopSeed and Isla Pak brands; two strains (IFET 1572 and IFET 1574) and TopSeed seeds that were harvested in F2 at IF Goiano - Campus Ceres. Physiological analyzes of seeds and morphology of young finger pepper seedlings were performed. In the Germination Pattern Test (TPG), the Isla Pak variety obtained the best result, with 96.62% germination and was statistically different from the others. The strains presented lower germination results, with 77.62% in IFET 1572 and 70.50% in IFET 1574. The Isla Pak variety of finger pepper showed higher results in seed physiological quality tests. as well as for seedling morphological analysis. The IFET 1572 and IFET 1574 strains obtained by the IF Goiano - Campus Ceres breeding program presented inferior results of seed physiological and seedling morphological quality.pt_BR
dc.description.resumoO cultivo da pimenta tem uma grande importância no Brasil, quer por suas características de rentabilidade, bem como sua importância social para o emprego de elevado número de mão de obra. O estabelecimento inicial de uma lavoura depende essencialmente do potencial fisiológico das sementes utilizadas na semeadura. Objetivou-se avaliar a qualidade fisiológica de sementes de pimentas Capsicum baccatum de variedades e de linhagens. Os tratamentos com delineamento inteiramente casualizado consistiram em sementes de duas variedades de pimenta dedo-de-moça das marcas TopSeed e Isla Pak; duas linhagens (IFET 1572 e IFET 1574) e sementes da marca TopSeed que foram colhidas em F2 no IF Goiano - Campus Ceres. Foram feitas análises fisiológicas das sementes e morfológicas de plântulas de pimenta dedo-de-moça. No Teste Padrão de Germinação (TPG) a variedade da marca Isla Pak obteve o melhor resultado, com 96,62% de germinação e foi diferente estatisticamente das demais. As linhagens apresentaram os resultados inferiores de germinação, com 77,62% na IFET 1572 e 70,50% na IFET 1574. A variedade de pimenta dedo-de-moça da marca Isla Pak apresentou maiores resultados nos testes de qualidade fisiológica de sementes, assim como para as análises morfológicas de plântulas. As linhagens IFET 1572 e IFET 1574 obtidas pelo programa de melhoramento genético do IF Goiano - Campus Ceres apresentaram resultados inferiores de qualidade fisiológica de sementes e morfológica de plântulas.pt_BR
