FATORES ASSOCIADOS AO USO DE FÓRUMLAS INFANTIS

Abstract

Breastfeeding offers health benefits to both mother and infant, in addition to strengthening the bond between mother and child. Breast milk is the exclusive and sufficient food for the infant's nutritional intake until the child is 6 months old. However, breastfeeding is multifactorial and successful. Infant formulas are used to replace breast milk, but none of them are capable of replacing it in their composition. The study aimed to investigate the factors associated with the use of infant formulas and breastfeeding failure in patients at the Pires do Rio Municipal Health Center, GO. This is a qualitative, quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional research, with the application of a questionnaire, from September to December 2024. With the collection and analysis of data, it is verified that the main factor for the interruption of breastfeeding and the adherence to the use of infant formula is due to the lack of breast milk, highlighting the need for investment in health education, to encourage breastfeeding even in specific conditions, such as children with Cow's Milk Protein Allergy (CMPA).
