AGRICULTURA FAMILIAR DO ESTADO DE GOIÁS E SUA PARTICIPAÇÃO NA UTILIZAÇÃO DAS LINHAS DE CRÉDITO DO PROGRAMA NACIONAL DE FORTALECIMENTO DA AGRICULTURA FAMILIAR (PRONAF)

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the National Program for the Strengthening of Family Farming (Pronaf) on family farming in the state of Goiás between the 2015/2016 and 2022/2023 harvest seasons, with the objective of identifying the proportion of Pronaf credit line resources that were effectively utilized in the state. The research was conducted through document analysis and a literature review, using data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the Central Bank of Brazil, through the credit operations register of the Rural Credit and Proagro Operations System (Sicor), and the Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA). The results show that a significant portion of agricultural establishments is concentrated in the southern region of the state, with livestock farming being predominant among family farmers. It was found that Goiás utilized, on average, 1.97% of the Pronaf resources released nationwide. The study concludes that, despite the importance of Pronaf, there is a need for more effective policies to increase the program's adoption and its impact on family farming in Goiás.
