EPMURAS: SISTEMA DE AVALIAÇÃO DE BOVINOS E SUA IMPORTANICA NA CADEIA PRODUTIVA: REVISÃO DE LITERATURA

Abstract

This is a literature review, based on bibliographic materials available in the literature and other sources of communication despite the visual assessment of cattle called EPMURAS, as well as the application in the field and its importance for beef cattle farming. To construct the work, the following research sources were used: Science Direct and Scielo, through articles on a global scale in the area of future advances in livestock farming, Google Scholar bringing various works, websites for consulting production data, agencies such as Embrapa that predisposes studies on a range of works on the subject and magazines bringing works that contributed to the construction of this review. Among the methods that assist in the selection of animals, the morphological and body evaluation of animals stands out, including MERCOS, CPMU and EPMURAS. The latter, widely used by the Brazilian Association of Zebu Breeders (ABCZ) and Neloristas, carried out only by trained technicians, discriminating score points when analyzing animals in pairs for each component of the acronym: E – body structure, P – precocity, M – muscularity, U – navel, R – race, A – poise, and S – sexuality. Specifically, from 0 to 6 for E. P. M and U, and from 1 to 4 for R, A and S. In view of the above, it is considered that the EPMURAS visual assessment is a simple methodology, with great importance for the selection of animals with great genetic potential.
