O CERRADO E SUAS COMUNIDADES TRADICIONAIS: IMPACTOS E A PERCEPÇÃO ESTUDANTIL RELACIONADA A ESSES ASPECTOS

Abstract

The Cerrado stands out for its biodiversity and scope, being considered the second largest biome in South America. In view of all its importance for the biological community that it aggregates, the biomes that surround it and the social groups (ribeirinhos, quilombolas and indigenous peoples) who depend directly on their resources, it is essential to inform and sensitize society about their riches and the most appropriate practices so that they can be conserved. Considering the huge lack of information about not only the degradation of the Cerrado, but its community and biodiversity, this work proposes Environmental Education as an instrument of great value in this context and the school environment as the most appropriate place to start this process. , as it has a highly important function with regard to the assimilation of scientific concepts by the individual and which are normally not accessible in the environment in which he lives. Contradicting what we see in the law, we realize that Environmental Education is not inserted as it should be in the school environment, when it comes to showing the riches that still exist in the Cerrado for our students, what existed and no longer exists and, much more important , what measures can be taken to conserve what is left. This research aimed to diagnose the level of knowledge of students in the 3rd year of high school, in military teaching units of the state network in the city of Goiânia, about socio-environmental aspects of the Cerrado and, in this way, contribute with indispensable information about them, with the aim of awakening in young people attitudes and behaviors that promote greater awareness, aiming at valuing the listed aspects, aiming at greater protection and conservation of the natural resources of the biome. The first stage of the research had an investigative nature, consisting of a bibliographic survey on the aspects explored in the work, combined with the preparation and application of a questionnaire with the students of the selected units, with the objective of verifying the possible lack of this knowledge by the students. The second stage presented informative aspects, with the purpose of updating and expanding the students' knowledge about the Cerrado, its resources, communities and impacts involved, thus using Environmental Education, in the sense of providing a greater awareness of young people regarding measures of preservation and conservation of the biome, with expositions of the aspects inherent to the work through conversations with the students and the presentation of slides and videos related to the theme. Through the results obtained from the research and the diagnosis carried out with the participating schools, it was possible to highlight the impacts suffered by the biome and its communities, as well as the lack of fundamental knowledge by our students about them, noting the need for policies that implement the Environmental Education in our schools and promote the appreciation of the Cerrado and the communities that sustainably use its resources.
