AS REPRESENTAÇÕES DE BRUXA EM AS MEMÓRIAS DA BRUXA ONILDA, DE ENRIC LARREULA E ROSER CAPDEVILA

Abstract

Over time, the witch populated the popular imagination, and still lives in it, being one of the representations of an unusual reality. Close to or far from evil, the witch is a character that has been modernizing, changing some of its characteristics to the point of becoming very close to the nuances of a hero or heroine. Coated with imaginary symbologies, such as the hat and broom, the witch was reinvented, without losing its charm and, therefore, became the subject of the present research, which turns to the study of the representations of witch in “As Memórias da Bruza Onilda”, by Enric Larreula and Roser Capdevila. The research aimed to answer the following question: how is the witch represented in the work “As Memórias da Bruza Onilda”? Faced with the problem, the objective of the study was to analyze the characteristics of the Witch Onilda compared to those of the witches and the protagonists of fairy tales. Therefore, we opted for bibliographic research, based on studies with the same theme, found in articles, books and other scientific works. Authors that deal with fairy tales, children's literature and the representation of the witch in the narratives were used, among them, Bruno Bettelheim and Andréia Osório. Among the results, it is noteworthy that the Witch Onilda manages to subvert the concepts about witches, which are traditionally presented in fairy tales, having greater proximity to kindness and heroism, distancing her from her literary archetype.
