RELATÓRIO DE ESTÁGIO CURRICULAR SUPERVISIONADO (CLÍNICA E CIRURGIA DE PEQUENOS ANIMAIS) BLEFAROPLASTIA COMO TRATAMENTO DE ENTRÓPIO UNILATERAL EM FELINO JOVEM: RELATO DE CASO

Abstract

Entropion is an ophthalmologic condition that affects dogs and rarely cats, and consists of the inversion of the eyelid margin, both lower and upper, uni or bilaterally. The most common clinical signs consist of blepharospasm, photophobia, vascularization, edema and conjunctival hyperemia. Corneal ulcers are commonly related to entropion and it is extremely important to perform the fluorescein test, if positive, topical treatment should be inserted postoperatively. The diagnosis is clinical made by detecting the inverted eyelid and correction by blepharoplasty surgery is indicated. In the clinical case presented, the 3-month-old SRD feline presented unilateral entropion at the lower margin and bilateral corneal ulcer and underwent surgical correction using the Hotz-Celsus technique and treatment with topical antibiotic for ulcer. After 15 days of the procedure, the patient presented normal eyelid conformation and negative for corneal ulcer in the fluorescein test, demonstrating efficacy in the treatment.
