Abstract

Rabies is an infectious disease of zoonotic character caused by a virus of the genus lyssavirus, that predominantly affects mammals and is characterized by presenting acute and fatal course. This disease has global importance, because it causes great economic losses. The blood-sucking bat Desmodus rotundos is the main reservoir of the virus in rural areas. Rabies is caused by the Rabdo virus, in cattle and a major economic problem is in public health in Brazil. . This paper aims to report a case of rabies, attended by the veterinary department of Capul in the municipality of Unaí-MG. Where the examined animal had acute bloody diarrhea, dehydration, anorexia, characterizing an Enterotoxemia. On the second day, the animal presented insensitivity to touch, motor incoordination, flaccidity, sialorrhea, aggressiveness, thus characterizing the clinical signs of rabies, which died during the examination where the necropsy and fragments of the brain, hippocampus, cerebellum, thalamus, medulla, whole brainstem, pituitary, admirable network and ganglia were collected. animal health laboratory of - LSA, where the positive result was confirmed using the direct immunofluorescence technique
