INTERFERÊNCIA DE TOUROS NO PESO AO NASCER EM BEZERROS DA RAÇA NELORE

Abstract

The present study aimed to verify the interference of the bull on birth weight in calves born to Nellores cows, born between the months of August and September of the year 2019, observing the interference of different bulls in the weighing process. Forty Nellore cows, with an average age of eight years, were used in a natural field, where 20 cows were inseminated with the bull Nelore Tornado and 20 with the bull Nelore Javari. The nutritional conditions, handling, professionals who performed the process, the infrastructure used, the genetic pattern of the animals were the same for both bulls, as well as the use of digital scales for weighing calves at birth. After data tabulation and verification of possible errors, the Shapiro - Wilks normality test was used, with a 5% probability level. The Javari bull showed better performance at calf birth, in relation to birth weight and, consequently, the quality of these animals.
