dc.description.abstractThe objective was to verify if there is an impact of the month of birth and industrial crossbreeding strategy on the productive performance of calves at weaning. The mean weight at weaning (PMD), the mean age at weaning (IMD) and the average daily gain (GMD) of data from farms of the Kastipera Group were evaluated, covering 1505 Nelore animals and 397 crossbreed ½ Angus and Nelore. All effects included in the model significantly affected weight at weaning (p <0.05). It is noted that at the beginning of the birth season, as in September and October with 220.4 ± 27.6 kg and 206.94 ± 22.0 kg in weight respectively. Births at the end of the season, on the other hand, show lower productive results, as in February, with an average weaning weight of 166.9 ± 18.1 kg. The month of birth is an important factor in the productive parameters at weaning, preferably occurring at the end of the dry season. The industrial crossing strategy, in which calves are born at the end of the birth season, proved to be ineffective, since it prevented the full performance of Angus animals.pt_BR
dc.description.resumoObjetivou-se com verificar se há impacto do mês de nascimento e estratégia de cruzamento industrial sob o desempenho produtivo de bezerros à desmama. Foram avaliados o peso médio a desmama (PMD), idade média a desmama (IMD) e ganho médio diário (GMD) de dados de fazendas do Grupo Kastipera, contemplando 1505 animais da raça Nelore e 397 animais do cruzamento ½ Angus e Nelore. Todos os efeitos incluídos no modelo afetaram significativamente o peso à desmama (p<0,05). Se nota que no início da estação de natalidade, como em setembro e outubro com 220,4 ± 27,6 kg e 206,94 ± 22,0 kg de peso respectivamente. Já os nascimentos no final da estação apresentam menores resultados produtivos, como em fevereiro com peso médio ao desmame de 166,9 ± 18,1 kg. O mês de nascimento é um importante fator nos parâmetros produtivos na desmama, preferencialmente que ocorra no final do período de estiagem. A estratégia de cruzamento industrial, em que os bezerros nasçam no final da estação de nascimento, mostrou-se pouco eficaz, uma vez que, impediu o total desempenho dos animais Angus.pt_BR
