Abstract
The contact of children from an early age with literary books, even if they do not yet know how to read the words, enables a fruitful encounter with art, as with the social representations present in our society. When listening to the story and visualizing the images, the child begins to relate to the enchanted world of literature, participating in verbal and visual language, better saying, the realization of reading/writing by babies and small children happens with the eyes and mouth. This article aims to show the importance of children's literature in the education of babies and very young children, more specifically from 0 to 3 years of age. The elaboration of the research is realized from bibliographic research, with productions being between 2017 and 2022. The Oasis Platform was used to search the articles used to analyze throughout the study. Among the theoretical assumptions that supported the elaboration of this research are the contributions of childhood sociology, childhood pedagogy, and children's literature. As a result, it can be apparent that, unfortunately, there is still a low literary production aimed at children under three years. On the other hand, there is a significant increase in research correlated to this theme and age group.
