ATRATIVIDADE DA CARREIRA DOCENTE SOB A PERCEPÇÃO DE ALUNOS CONCLUINTES DO ENSINO MÉDIO DO INSTITUTO FEDERAL GOIANO CAMPUS URUTAÍ

Abstract

This research has as its theme the attractiveness of the teaching career. The low attractiveness for this profession has generated negative consequences for basic education, in some areas such as mathematics, chemistry, physics and biological sciences there are no teachers and when there are, in some situations the teacher is trained in another area other than his or her . Several factors have contributed to the shortage of professionals for teaching, such as, social devaluation, economic, psychological, obsolescence, disqualification, among others. Therefore, this research has as objective to investigate the attractiveness of the teaching career under the perception of high school graduates of the IF Goiano Campus Urutaí, because IF Goiano offers three undergraduate courses, namely, Degree in Mathematics, Degree in Chemistry and Degree in Biological Sciences, conclude around three to four high school classes that would meet the demand, that is, the vacancies made available by these courses. As a data collection instrument, a questionnaire was applied with 27 questions, of which 14 were closed and 13 were open, the closed questions were formulated to capture the student's profile (gender, age, course, etc.). research on the professional choice of these students more broadly and on the conception about the teaching profession and then the issues specifically dealt with the attractiveness factors for the teaching career and the courses (Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Mathematics) offered on campus Urutaí. As preliminary results, we obtained 28.23% of the female students and 71.76% of the male students, 50.58% were eighteen or more years old, and 49.41% of the students were under the age of eighteen. In the integrated course to Agriculture and Biotechnology, 95.52% and 77.77% of the students, respectively, identify themselves with the course, even though there is influence of the family in the choice of this course. Regarding teaching 37.64% of young people at some point have thought about being a teacher and 62.35% never thought about being a teacher.We concluded in this study that the teaching career for the high school graduates of IF Goiano Campus Urutaí is not attractive to them.
