dc.description.abstractThe interspecific and intraspecific competition are events that occur between two or more species, where organisms are subject to changes in growth, development, fecundity, and survival. Many species of anurans seek for temporary water bodies for oviposition, where since the larval life stage the species experience competition. Thus, the present study aimed to compare the larval development rate and the growth rate of individuals of Physalaemus nattereri and Leptodactylus labyrinthicus species when placed under the same laboratory conditions at two different population densities. For this purpose, two tadpoles species were placed in containers with different population densities (one with 30 and one with 60 individuals) and every 5 days, five tadpoles were removed from each experiment and biometric and larval development stage characteristics were performed, up to 15 days of experiment. It was verified which of the two studied species stood out as competitor in obtaining resources and presented the best development rates, and if the population density interfered in the larval development rates. Our results allowed us to conclude that the tadpoles density during competition affected the growth and development of Leptodactylus labyrinthicus individuals, since this species obtained higher growth rates as the experimental days advance in the density of 30 and 60 individuals. dc.description.resumoA competição interespecífica e intraespecífica são eventos que ocorrem entre duas ou mais espécies, na qual os organismos estão sujeitos a alterações no crescimento, desenvolvimento, fecundidade e sobrevivência. Muitas espécies de anuros procuram corpos d'água temporários para oviposição, onde desde a fase de vida larval as espécies vivenciam a competição. Desse modo, o presente estudo teve como objetivo comparar a taxa de desenvolvimento larval e a taxa de crescimento dos indivíduos das espécies Physalaemus nattereri e Leptodactylus labyrinthicus quando colocadas sob as mesmas condições laboratoriais em duas densidades populacionais distintas. Para tanto, foram colocadas duas espécies de girinos em recipientes com diferentes densidades populacionais (uma com 30 e outra com 60 indivíduos) e a cada 5 dias, cinco girinos foram retirados de cada experimento e foram feitas as análises biométricas e do estágio de desenvolvimento larval, até os 15 dias de experimento. Foi verificado qual das duas espécies estudadas se sobressaiu como competidora na obtenção por recursos e apresentou as melhores taxas de desenvolvimento, e ainda, se a densidade populacional interferiu nas taxas de desenvolvimento larval. Nossos resultados nos permitiram concluir que a densidade de girinos durante a competição afetou o crescimento e desenvolvimento das espécies, uma vez que Leptodactylus labyrinthicus obteve maiores taxas de crescimento de acordo com o avanço dos dias de experimento na densidade de 30 e 60 indivíduos.pt_BR
