Abstract
The proposal of the e-book “Secretory structures in plants: do you know them?” is to popularize a subject restricted to the scientific community. Perhaps the term “secretory structures” may seem a litros bit odd, but the term refers to the glands found in plants. That's right, plants have glands that produce a variety of chemical compounds that are widely used in our daily lives, such as latex, oils, resins, flowers' scent and used for cosmetics, perfumery and medicine. For the plants, suxh products produced by the secretory structures confer an adaptive value, helping the plants to survive despite the environmental stresses that they are subjected at the places they inhabit, or in the protection against herbivores and pathogens or even in the pollination process. Thus, the content of the book aims to contribute to reducing the invisibility of botany as a whole and showing the importance of our flora, regardless of the reader's age group.
