Abstract: | Brazil, like other countries in the world, faced a complex pandemic caused by Covid-19, which causes respiratory crises and infections, often asymptomatic. It became known at the end of 2019 and soon spread around the world. With the suspension of classes, teachers and schools as a whole had to reinvent themselves and change their educational practices, as they used to have their own classrooms. In this period of isolation, teachers organized and continued their work at home. Mathematics is an area of knowledge that was built from human development, being very important for every society. This article presents the challenges in teaching mathematics to elementary school students from the 1st to 5th grades, in the context of the pandemic, based on data collected through qualitative research. Five teachers from the cities of Ceres, Jaraguá and Goianésia were interviewed. We intend to assess the difficulties the teachers encountered when teaching mathematics in the early years. Which methodologies were applied to meet all students needs, and the adaptations that took place. Through the interview, five threads were generated that address the pedagogical practices and the teachers of how they continued their work |
