Abstract: Equine therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses the horse as an instrument for stimulating and developing the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development of people with specific needs, contributing to social inclusion and improving the quality of life of participants. This work aimed to report the experience lived in the project "Equine Therapy for Social Development" carried out at the Farm School of the Federal Institute of Goiano, Campos Belos Campus. The study was characterized as an experience report, with a qualitative approach to the services provided between November 2024 and July 2025, including cases of Autism Spectrum Disorder and cerebral palsy. The evaluation of the results considered the observations made during the services. During the execution of the project, improvements related to balance, motor coordination, social interaction, communication, attention, and participation in the proposed activities were observed. In addition to the benefits observed in the participants, the project highlighted the importance of Animal Science in equine therapy, especially in activities related to the handling, well-being, and monitoring of the horses used in therapeutic sessions. The students' participation contributed to the safety of the treatments and the adequate conditions of the animals, as well as providing practical experiences related to teamwork, social inclusion, and professional training. Thus, it is concluded that equine therapy presented positive contributions to the development and well-being of the participants, in addition to strengthening the

Abstract: Integrated systems are efficient technologies for intensifying production systems, as they provide several ecosystem services, such as the production of high-quality forage during the off-season, increased ensiled mass production, and improved silage quality. Pearl millet has already been used in intercropping systems; however, it is necessary to investigate the best crop development stage for silage production. In addition, results on the performance of pearl millet when grown with the new Brachiaria ruziziensis cv. BRS Integra remain scarce. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the impact of intercropping pearl millet with BRS Integra grass, harvested at two development stages, on agronomic traits, dry mass production, fermentative parameters, and silage quality, compared with the monocultures of these crops. The experiment was carried out at the Instituto Federal Goiano, Rio Verde Campus, Goiás, Brazil. A randomized complete block design was used, with four replicates, in a 3 × 2 factorial arrangement, comprising three cropping systems — pearl millet monoculture (Pennisetum glaucum L.); BRS Integra grass (Brachiaria ruziziensis cv. BRS Integra) monoculture; and pearl millet intercropped with BRS Integra grass — and two development stages (70 and 90 days after sowing, DAS). The results showed that intercropping pearl millet with BRS Integra grass, when harvested at 90 DAS, increased dry mass production and improved the fermentative characteristics of the silage. Furthermore, it enhanced the nutritional value of the silage, with increases of 30.17% in crude protein and 19.11% in dry matter, in addition to balancing the fibrous fractions of the silage, when compared with the silage of BRS Integra grass in monoculture. Based on these results, the pearl millet hybrid BRS 1501 showed high forage yield and favorable fermentative characteristics when harvested at different development stages, and is therefore considered a promising crop for silage production under tropical conditions.

Abstract: The project “Cultivating Opportunities” was carried out at the School-Farm of the Instituto Federal Goiano - Campus Campos Belos, in partnership with the Casa de Apoio ao Menor Maria Bela Xavier, aiming to foster emotional, social, and cognitive development of children in vulnerable situations. The activities included educational workshops, discussion circles, animal handling practices, and equine-assisted therapy sessions, all designed to integrate Zootechny principles with pedagogical and therapeutic experiences The methodology involved biweekly meetings, later monthly, totaling 17 visits, with an initial participation of six children, reduced to four due to adoption processes. Actions were conducted by professors, technicians, and Zootechny students, who adapted language and content to different age groups. Results showed significant changes in children’s behavior, such as greater openness to dialogue, strengthened self-esteem, sense of belonging, and reduced anxiety. Equine-assisted therapy stood out as a practice that fostered confidence, calmness, and social integration. Furthermore, workshops and discussion circles expanded the understanding of the human role in animal care and environmental Sustainability It is concluded that the project contributed to the integral formation of children, reinforcing the importance of Zootechny as a science applied not only to production but also to the promotion of well-being and social inclusion.

Abstract: Beef cattle farming is a key activity in Brazilian agribusiness, notable for its significant contribution to meat production and the increasing adoption of technologies aimed at improving production efficiency. In this context, feedlot systems have gained importance by allowing for greater control over animal nutrition and management. The objective of this study was to report on activities carried out during an internship at the Beef Cattle Laboratory of IF Goiano – Rio Verde Campus. The primary activity involved monitoring a feedlot operation for heifers resulting from industrial crossbreeding, used to test the efficacy of a vanilla-based palatability enhancer in the cattle diet. The study involved 22 F1 Angus × Nelore heifers assigned to two treatments: a diet containing the palatability enhancer and a control diet. During the internship, activities included feed management, facility cleaning, animal weighing, blood sample collection, recording of zootechnical data, and assistance with laboratory tasks. Productive performance parameters—such as average daily gain, dry matter intake, and feed conversion—were evaluated, alongside blood biochemical profiles. It was concluded that, under the conditions evaluated, the use of the palatability enhancer did not increase dry matter intake and had no effect on the performance of the confined ½ Angus × Nelore heifers; however, it did alter the blood biochemical profile. The internship demonstrated the importance of integrating theory and practice in academic training, providing hands-on experience in confined cattle management, exposure to scientific research, and the development of technical skills essential for the professional practice of an animal scientist.
