Abstract: Memes are versatile tools that can be used in various disciplines, as they cover a wide range of
themes. The term “meme” was initially created and used by biologist Richard Dawkins to
designate a unit of cultural information, in analogy to the gene. This work is part of an activity
developed within the scope of the Pedagogical Residency project of the Instituto Federal
Goiano – Campus Urutaí and was carried out in public schools, namely Colégio Estadual Maria
Benedita Velozo located in the city of Orizona/GO and Colégio Estadual Rodrigo Rodrigues
da Cunha located in the city of Pires do Rio/GO in the years 2021 and 2022. Throughout the
development of the project, a significant behavioral change among students was observed,
since, through the tools available on the internet, it was possible to promote interaction between
student-teacher and student-student within the virtual environment. The use of an innovative
tool contributed to breaking a traditional teaching trend, allowing students to learn in a more
dynamic and enjoyable way. It is concluded that the use of memes in the classroom fosters
meaningful learning.

Abstract: Acoustic communication is crucial for the reproduction and behavior of anuran amphibians. This study investigated the daily and seasonal vocal activity patterns of Rhinella diptycha and Physalaemus cuvieri in the Cerrado, as well as the influence of air temperature and relative humidity on their occurrence. Using passive acoustic monitoring between January 2021 and January 2022 in the Aporé-GO area, a Cerrado-Atlantic Forest transition zone, nocturnal recordings were analyzed using circular statistics and logistic regression models. The results revealed distinct patterns: P. cuvieri exhibited vocal activity concentrated in the summer (January-February), with a consistent peak around 22:00 h. In contrast, R. diptycha showed greater plasticity, with peak activity between August and October and a progressive shift in peak time (from 20:44 to 22:39 h). The probability of vocalization for P. cuvieri increased significantly with temperature (β = 0.043; p < 0.001) and humidity (β = 0.053; p < 0.001), a pattern consistent with a dependence on humid conditions. Conversely, R. diptycha showed a response to temperature three times stronger (β = 0.125; p < 0.001) but a negative relationship with humidity (β = -0.050; p < 0.001), reflecting its morphological adaptations for tolerance to drier environments. It is concluded that the species possess distinct phenological and physiological strategies, with P. cuvieri being more dependent on humid conditions and R. diptycha more tolerant to drought. These differences imply distinct vulnerabilities to climate change, with P. cuvieri being potentially more threatened by alterations in precipitation regimes.

Abstract: This study aimed to conduct a floristic survey of the tree stratum of the ecological trail at the Botanical Garden of the Instituto Federal Goiano - Campus Rio Verde, in order to identify and characterize the plant species present, contributing to the knowledge of the regional flora and to conservation and management actions for the native vegetation of the Cerrado. Collections were carried out along two continuous transects, 5 meters wide, covering both sides of the trail, and all shrubby-arboreal individuals with a circumference at breast height (CBH) ≥ 8 cm were recorded. Seventy-two species distributed in 53 genera and 27 families were identified, with Fabaceae being the most representative. The results showed low floristic diversity, a consequence of the high dominance of Senegalia polyphylla (37.43%) and Anadenanthera colubrina (11.81%), which together concentrated most of the sampled individuals. The diameter distribution showed a pattern tending towards an inverted J shape, characteristic of communities in equilibrium, with a predominance of young individuals and continuous recruitment. The floristic composition was mostly formed by native species, with a low occurrence of exotic and naturalized species, in addition to the record of endangered species, such as Paubrasilia echinata. Thus, it was concluded that the tree stratum of the Botanical Garden presents a consolidated and functional structure, although with restricted species diversity. The survey contributes to the knowledge of the local vegetation, offering subsidies for the planning of management, conservation and environmental education actions, reinforcing the role of the Botanical Garden as a strategic space for the preservation of Cerrado biodiversity.

Abstract: The Comet Assay is a sensitive, rapid, and easy-to-apply technique that requires a small
biological sample. This assay has been used as a biomarker to assess DNA damage caused by
environmental stressors in both humans and wild animals, such as birds. As one of the most
diverse groups of vertebrates, birds provide a range of ecosystem services, are present almost
everywhere on the planet, and contribute to trophic interactions, making them excellent
bioindicators. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate global scientific studies that used the
Comet Assay for avifauna biomonitoring. Fifty articles were found between 2001 and 2025,
distributed across 17 countries. Most of the studies were conducted in laboratories, with
domestic birds being the most frequently analyzed bird species. The effects of heavy metals
and chemicals on birds were the most frequently investigated environmental stressors in the
research. The comet assay design varied between studies, with blood being the primary sample
analyzed. The comet assay is still rarely used in avifauna, particularly in free-ranging birds.
Furthermore, there is a lack of standardization regarding the assay's application at different
stages, such as lysis and electrophoresis times. Further studies using single-cell gel
electrophoresis in avifauna are recommended, as it is a simple and non-invasive technique that
can be applied alongside other biomarkers.
