Abstract: Ingestion of foreign bodies is a frequent occurrence in the routine of small animals; however, sharp objects drastically increase the risk of perforation and septic peritonitis. This study aims to describe the diagnostic and therapeutic approach in an 8-year-old, 9.8 kg male Poodle dog, treated in Catalão-GO immediately after the accidental ingestion of glass fragments. During the anamnesis and physical examination, the patient presented clinically stable and without acute gastrointestinal signs. The diagnosis was confirmed by abdominal radiography in three projections, which showed multiple amorphous radiopaque structures, measuring between 0.8 and 2.7 cm in the gastric region.

Due to the high potential for injury from the material, immediate surgical intervention via gastrotomy was chosen, preceded by upper digestive endoscopy which confirmed the integrity of the esophageal and gastric mucosa. The anesthetic protocol prioritized multimodal analgesia and hemodynamic stability, including locoregional quadratus lumborum (QLB) block. Access was achieved via median celiotomy, and after inspection of the cavity, gastrotomy was performed, fragments were removed, and gastric closure was performed in two layers (simple seromuscular followed by Cushing-pattern invaginating closure) with absorbable suture.

The postoperative period focused on dietary progression (from pureed to moist gastrointestinal) and protective therapy with antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, analgesics, and gastric protectors. Recovery was monitored by the absence of clinical signs and healing of the surgical wound. An episode of vomiting on the 4th day, due to a dietary error, was resolved with clinical management, based on a return to the prescribed guidelines. Full recovery was confirmed at 12 days by clinical stability and absence of complications, resulting in definitive discharge. The success of this case reinforces that early diagnosis, combined with prompt surgical intervention, is crucial for a favorable prognosis and the prevention of serious complications in cases of ingestion of sharp objects.

Abstract: Primary pulmonary neoplasms in dogs are considered uncommon in clinical routine; however, they may present aggressive biological behavior and significant prognostic relevance. Clinical presentation is often nonspecific and may include persistent cough, exercise intolerance, and respiratory alterations, which can delay diagnosis. The objective of this study was to report a case of primary pulmonary neoplasia in an 11-year-old male Pit Bull dog weighing 26.2 kg, presented with a history of recurrent cough. Thoracic radiographic examination revealed pulmonary nodular formations, and caudal lung lobectomy was performed. Histopathological evaluation of the surgical specimen confirmed the diagnosis of pulmonary adenocarcinoma. It is concluded that appropriate diagnostic investigation combined with surgical intervention represents a relevant approach in the management of primary pulmonary neoplasms, contributing to therapeutic planning and clinical follow-up of affected patients.

Abstract: Feline idiopathic cystitis is one of the main diseases affecting the lower urinary tract of cats, characterized by bladder inflammation without a defined etiological cause and frequently associated with stress. This study reports the case of a domestic male cat of mixed breed submitted to necropsy after sudden death. Macroscopic examination revealed a distended and thickened urinary bladder with hyperemic mucosa and hemorrhagic content, as well as urethral obstruction by fibrinous material. Secondary findings such as hydronephrosis, vascular congestion, and systemic alterations were also observed. Necropsy allowed the exclusion of other suspected causes, such as intoxication, and established obstructive idiopathic cystitis as the cause of death. This report highlights the importance of necropsy in veterinary medicine for clinicopathological correlation, definitive diagnosis, and understanding systemic repercussions associated with the disease.

Abstract: Automation in the poultry industry has established itself as a strategy to increase productive yield and ensure greater standardization of cuts, especially those with higher added value, such as breast fillet and sassami fillet. This study evaluated the efficiency of the Rapid Plus machine in the automated processing of chicken breast cuts in a slaughterhouse in the state of Goiás, relating yield indicators to operational conditions and the characteristics of the raw material. It is an observational study with a quantitative approach, based on the analysis of industrial records. General yield, specific yield of breast fillet and sassami fillet, condemnation rates, and non-compliance percentages associated with the presence of bone fragments were analyzed. The general yield was 75.34%, while the combined yield of breast fillet and sassami fillet reached 23.78%, a value close to the industrial target of 24.00%. The average rate of non-compliance in the pre-trim was 13.4% in October and 11.2% in November, decreasing to 4.8% and 4.1% after manual trimming, representing a reduction of over 60%. The findings indicate that the performance of Rapid Plus is directly related to the standardization of the front halves and the proper adjustment of operational parameters, reinforcing the need for continuous monitoring to maximize yield and ensure the quality of the final product.
