Abstract: The intercropping of corn with legumes for silage production is used as an alternative
to improve the protein content in corn silage and enable the conservation of forage
legumes in the form of silage. Therefore, studies have focused on testing the species
and evaluating their participation in the total biomass. The objective of this review of
the national literature was to evaluate the feasibility of using the intercropping of corn
and legumes in commercial crops for silage production. Several legumes have already
been tested, including Soybean (Glycine max), Stylosantes, Pigeon pea (Cajanus
cajan), Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp), Crotalaria (Crotalárias sp.) and Alfalfa
(Medicago sativa L.). Literature results show that intercropped silages, when compared
to corn silages, have a higher crude protein content without, however, improving the
production of dry mass per hectare. The low participation of the legume in the
consortium has led to inconclusive studies on the feasibility of its use in the production
of silage. Limitations such as low dry matter content in the silage, high fiber content,
suppression in the development of intercropped crops, etiolation, competition and
reduction in total biomass are reported as the participation of the legume increases.
The legume has the ability to improve soil fertility through biological nitrogen fixation
and promote nutrient cycling. Due to the low number of studies in the area and the lack
of standardization, it is not yet possible to establish the necessary criteria for the
intercropping of corn with legume for silage production.

Abstract: The production of ruminants has grown substantially around the world, but the challenges
regarding the efficiency of production systems are a reality and sometimes obstacles faced by
ranchers. Thus, nutritionists have been working on modifying the ruminal environment in order
to improve rumen efficiency and, consequently, feed efficiency. This study aimed to compare
the literature on the use of sodium monensin, virginiamycin and essential oils if they are able
to provide the same benefits and have the potential to replace them, in view of the growing
barriers to the use of ionophores and not ionophores. Essential oils OEs are considered
alternative and promising agents to antibiotics that improve animal performance. When used as
food additives, functional oils are defined, as they have some active molecule capable of
altering the body's metabolism. When used together with ionophore additives or exclusively,
they influence the consumption of nutrients, without, however, causing changes in the
performance and carcass characteristics of the animals. As for the use of sodium monensin, it
was verified in most studies a reduction in food consumption without affecting the animals'
weight gain. For virginiamycin, the researched studies reported positive effects in increasing
the flux of microbial N, as well as improvements in the adaptation of animals to the initial phase
of confinement. Thus, studies are still needed on the use of essential oils in the performance
and production of ruminants regarding their potential to replace ionophore additives already
used, dosages and sources.

Abstract: Millet (Pennisetum glaucum) is one of the most cultivated cereals in the world and at national level it has shown an increase in planted area, especially in the Cerrado. In view of the great potential, for millet, either due to its high adaptability in conditions less conducive to traditional crops or due to its wide range of uses (land cover, pasture, silage), investments in research that optimize its performance if presents very promising. The objective of this work is to describe and analyze the potentialities of using millet, focusing on its adaptability to extreme environments and versatility of use in addition to the productive increase that can be standard with the use of nitrogen fertilization. The data available in the literature demonstrate that millet is already considered an essential material for use as a cover in no-till systems, and holds the great growth potential in other segments. But, although highly adapted to low fertility conditions, when common fertilizer presents excellent results and responds satisfactorily to nitrogen fertilization.

Abstract: In Brazil, we have the second largest population of animals in the world, according to the
IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) census of 2018, only behind the United
States. There are 54.2 million dogs and 23.9 million cats. Quality control aims at the
biological safety of pet food. This study aimed to evaluate the physicochemical composition
of commercial premium feeds for adult dogs and puppies. The samples (Sample A - adults;
Sample B - puppies) were collected and analyzed in January, February and March 2020,
following the determinations of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA)
and with the analysis methodologies described by Instituto Adolfo Lutz (2008), with some
adaptations. The results of the analyzes were compared with the minimum and maximum
values allowed by the MAPA. The results of the analyzes were submitted to ANOVA and the
Tukey test at the 5% level to verify the interaction between the means. There were no
significant differences in the average moisture content for Sample A (6.91%), the same was
observed for Sample B (6.43%). The average values of Water Activity of Sample A and
Sample B did not present statistically significant differences, showing respectively, 0.51 and
0.47. The peroxide content was negative for all samples, indicating that the rations showed
chemical stability. The average acidity contents showed significant variation for all samples
over time, with the average acidity of Ration A being 0.53% and Ration B of 0.45 %. The
data indicated that the follow-up and monitoring of feed quality control in a factory
environment makes all the difference in maintaining the characteristics of the final product.
