Abstract: The use of agro-industrial by-products in ruminant feeding has emerged as an alternative for
reducing feed costs and increasing the sustainability of animal production systems. Among these
by-products, dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS) have high protein and energy contents
and may act as a partial substitute for conventional protein sources. The objective of this study
was to evaluate the effects of DDGS inclusion on health indicators of feedlot Santa Inês ewe lambs.
Twenty-four Santa Inês ewe lambs were used in a completely randomized design with two
treatments: a control diet containing soybean meal as the protein source and a diet containing
DDGS replacing soybean meal. The study consisted of a 52-day experimental period, preceded by
a 21-day adaptation phase to the experimental diets and feedlot management conditions.
Parasitological indicators were evaluated, including fecal egg count, Famacha© score, and packed
cell volume, as well as hematological and serum biochemical parameters. The inclusion of DDGS
did not affect parasite burden, Famacha© score, or packed cell volume during the experimental
period. Erythrogram variables were also not affected by treatments. However, ewe lambs fed
DDGS showed lower leukocyte and neutrophil counts compared with the control group. Serum
biochemical parameters related to energy metabolism, lipid profile, liver function, and renal
function remained within normal ranges, except for urea concentration, which was higher in
animals fed DDGS. It was concluded that DDGS inclusion did not compromise physiological
homeostasis, hematological indicators, or health-related parameters of ewe lambs, demonstrating
its potential as an alternative protein source in intensive sheep production systems.

Abstract: Pig farming has economic, social and food importance, but it still faces challenges related to the image of pork, the environmental management of waste and the transfer of technical information to producers, students and the community. In this context, this study aims to report the experience of the extension project “Suinocultura à Campo”, developed at IF Goiano – Ceres Campus, analyzing its contributions to the training of students, producers and the community, as well as to the dissemination of information about the nutritional quality of pork and the sustainable management of waste. The study is characterized as an experience report, with a descriptive nature and qualitative approach, based on the activities carried out between April 1 and November 28, 2019, at the Animal Production Laboratory – Pig Farming Sector. The project involved three student extension workers, one advisor and one technician responsible for the sector, directly benefiting approximately 30 people. The actions involved weekly management practices, cleaning and disinfection of facilities, maternity, nursery, growing and finishing activities, as well as leaflet distribution, seminars, an artificial insemination short course, a lecture on pork, a gastronomic workshop and participation in the 23rd Goiás Technology and Pig Management Meeting. The results indicated contributions to the technical training of the students, closer interaction with the community and strengthening of the dissemination of information on pig farming, food safety and sustainability. It is concluded that the project integrated teaching, extension and professional practice, promoting the appreciation of pork and the discussion of more sustainable production practices.

Abstract: Cattle production in Brazil has shown significant improvements in some regions, as indicated by IBGE (2023), with increases in birth rates and reproductive efficiency. However, challenges remain, particularly in extensive systems, where prolonged anestrus and low pregnancy rates continue to negatively impact production. The implementation of nutritional strategies, particularly supplementation, is crucial to sustaining these advances and ensuring the sustainability of cattle production. Nutritional management of beef cows, both prepartum and postpartum, plays a critical role in maintaining health and reproductive efficiency, especially in primiparous cows. During the prepartum period, it is essential to intensify nutritional care to ensure proper fetal development and preparation for lactation. Postpartum, the focus should be on recovering body condition and supporting milk production, preventing negative energy balance that can impair reproductive health and productivity. Protein-energy and mineral supplementation has proven to be an effective strategy in improving productive and reproductive performance, directly influencing pregnancy rates and the return to estrous cycles, thereby enhancing overall system efficiency.
Keywords: cattle production, dietary supplementation e productive efficiency.

Abstract: This Final Course Project addresses the importance of sex education in high school, with an emphasis on the contributions of biology teaching to the comprehensive education of students. The study seeks to understand how the scientific and pedagogical approach to sexuality, mediated by biological content, influences the development of responsible, conscious, and respectful attitudes among adolescents. The research is qualitative in nature, based on a literature review and critical analysis of authors who discuss the role of schools and biology teachers in promoting sex education. It starts from the hypothesis that the absence of a systematic and continuous approach favors the perpetuation of taboos, prejudices, and misinformation. The results indicate that the inclusion of sex education in the curriculum, linked to biology content and developed in an ethical and interdisciplinary manner, contributes to strengthening self-esteem, preventing sexually transmitted infections, respecting diversity, and building critical thinking. It is concluded that biology teaching plays a fundamental role in promoting sex education, being an essential element for the integral development of students and for the formation of more informed and conscious citizens.
