O CERRADO QUE CURA

Abstract

The use of natural resources is present throughout the Brazilian population, being more evident in traditional communities. However, a loss of this traditional knowledge is perceived, which is associated with the growing access and appreciation of conventional medicine, which often generates a devaluation of traditional knowledge by the new generations. Thus, the present work aims to verify the knowledge and use of medicinal plants in the quilombola community Mimbó, Amarante-PI. The methodology used was through interviews, printed forms, in order to understand issues of socioeconomic aspects, and about the medicinal plants used by the Mimbó community. This study brought important information for the organization and systematization of the knowledge about medicinal plants used by the quilombola community, aiming at a greater appreciation of the social role played by this group in biodiversity conservation. As a result of this study, a documentary was produced with all the information obtained about the main plants used in folk medicine in this community.
